What is intermittent fasting? Have you heard of it?
I have done A LOT of research on this topic. And the biggest take away that I can tell you is this: it is NOT a diet. It is truly a eating pattern.
This is not to say that you can eat candy and go hog wild on this eating pattern - because some things are just not good for you regardless of any eating pattern or mindset. Breaking it down as simply as possible, Intermittent Fasting is eating in a certain window of time. There are many hours, ways, and schedules that you can incorporate this eating pattern -- but, let's get to the bottom of the situation: WHY do this and WHAT are the benefits?
*SOME* of the benefits:
- increases life span (!)
- increases body resistance to stress
- increases brain function
- aid in preventing cancer
- helps clear skin
- lowers risk of deadly disease
- helps body maintain lean muscle tissue
Crazy, right? And, intermittent fasting doesn't mean you are fasting for long hours -- you can reap some of the benefits as early as 12 hours of fasting. Think about it, that is not eating from 8 pm until 8 a.m. or something similar. I do the 16:8 hours but you can start and swap and change your schedule without losing any of the benefits. Another bonus!
