Sleep apnea & other sleep disorders.....

Little known fact about me: I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a couple of years ago after startling awake one night and freaking out when Darren wasn't beside me! I felt like I was having a panic attack and something just wasn't right.
.
To be honest, the news initially embarrassed me because I TOTALLY categorized sleep apnea as a 'man's problem'. πŸ™ˆ But ladies out there, if you're in the same boat, did you know that celebrities like Amy Poehler have shared their experience of the condition too?? πŸ™‹
.
Fortunately through some research, we have found a few answers that help! Of course, I'm no sleep specialist so always consult your doctor, but here are a few natural remedies that have brought some peace and SLEEP to our home! πŸ™Œ

❤ Maintain a healthy weight.
❤ Practice yoga! It builds your respiratory strength and encourages oxygen flow.
❤ Sleep on your side instead of lying on your back.
❤ Use a humidifier. (Bonus: add lavender, peppermint, or eucalyptus for additional benefits!)

These are just a few of the tips from our podcast that I hope will help you as much as they have helped me!

Tips to get out of a FUNK!


Look at that picture! It's warm, not a cloud in the sky, I'm on the beach!, and riding a pink bike! WHAT?! How FuN is that!!!?  Just looking at the picture brings a smile to my face - and I hope it does the same for you!  ESPECIALLY if you are in the thick of cold and dreary days like I'm currently experiencing here in Michigan.

The temp was actually -9 the other morning...so don't get me even started on what the windshield temp is.  (What does that even mean? Windshield temp? I dunno...). And I don't think that I've seen the sun in at least a week.  

Sigh. 

Being cold and miserable is no joke - but this is something different. Rain, sun, snow, cold, warm, etc.. - it doesn't matter, a bad attitude or getting into a funk can happen at any time. And being in a funk is the real deal.  It doesn't matter the weather, a funk can come at you at any time.  And, they are NO fun, right?

So, you are in a funk...how do you get out of it? If it's the cold weather, being able to leave may not be the most available option.  So, how do you get out of the funk and back to living your best life!?!? Because, let's face it - happiness and good vibes ALWAYS are the best way to have a day.

Whether they are mere glimmers in your eye yet or maybe grown adults -- or maybe you are in the thick of the teenage years, this is for you!  Raising teenagers is NO joke.  That πŸ’© is really tough. 

We've been thru it ALL with our kiddos.  Seriously. If you know our story and journey that we've been thru, you will know that we are basically experts in raising teenagers! πŸ˜‚ So join us in this podcast as we share our stories/tips/information on dealing with your kids in this crazy time of life!

Raising kids (and especially teenagers) is not for the faint of heart. And it's not just the teenagers who are growing and learning....the parents are, too.  Not only do the kids walk away with lessons of life and situations on handling what is thrown at them (or what they choose to do!), it is teaching us a lot about ourselves, too.  I think you will surprise yourself, frustrate yourself, love yourself, and be proud of yourself.  And....it will humble you!  Remember when you were a kid yourself? 8 things that can change your life in 1 year!



First of all, before I dive into what my favorite tips are (to help change your life within 1 year...that's right! Just in time for the new year!), let's talk colds.   I mean, who isn't dealing with a cold right about now?  After decompressing from the holidays and entering the cold and dreary days (at least here in Michigan!), it is very common to catch a cold.  We start off this podcast with my favorite tip to NOT get a cold this time of year.  Don't miss it!!! No prescription and all natural -- and it sure does make a huge difference! 

I think new years resolutions are amazing. They really are. What a wonderful way to kickstart a new year with goals.  If you know me, goals and dreaming BIG are part of my daily and weekly routine. So, in a way, I get a new New Years Resolution every day!  How wonderful to know that a fresh start can happen at any time - it doesn't have to be December 31st.

Are you a goal setter? Do you like to plan out your day and your week to ensure that you are properly set for reaching those goals?  For me, it brings me so much JOY and excitement. To dream and plan out how to reach new dreams is a positive and fun thing to do!

Speaking of positivity - that is our number 1 tip for changing your life.  BE POSITIVE.  Nothing good comes out of complaining and being negative.  Seriously!  All that does is add anxiety and stress -- and do you know what stress can do to you?!?  It can make you sick and depletes your energy over all. Why would you do that to yourself? It's such an easy fix, too!

Boosting your immune system -- 'tis the season!

'Tis the season....not just Christmas cheer or New Years resolutions, but it is cold/flu season.  UGH. You hear me?  Maybe this already hit your house - hopefully not, but maybe you are doing everything in your power to avoid the plague!

As I mention in the beginning of the podcast, cold/flu is not fun but it's not brain cancer. Not being funny - but wanting to quickly introduce ourselves to any new follower (thank you!).  Mr. Worldwide, aka: my husband, does have brain cancer. But he is doing AMAZING.  We might be having a 3rd surgery coming up - but we will keep you posted on that.  And, my passion is to help others live their happiest and healthiest lives!

Speaking of happy and healthy, let's stay that way. And this time of year - with the cold weather, being trapped inside more often than not, the wear and tear of this season -- can bring us all down. Try my natural and great working tips to stay your healthiest this time of year. And, it is NOT drinking Tang.

Something wonderful is about to happen....

Close your eyes and tell yourself something wonderful is going to happen, with a smile on your face!! BELIEVE IT!!

It works, I promise!! There were days when I didn't know how I was going to survive watching Darren fight the toughest battle of his life... thinking we would never be the same again.. thinking our lives might be over!!
.
BUT every morning, before I would even open my eyes... I would tell myself that quote, and I believed it. And guess what.... everyday something wonderful did happen. It may have been super small, but I saw it every single day! It's what got me out of bed every morning.. and trust me there were days I didn't want to get up. Its how I survived the darkest days of my life!
.
It can help you too! Promise! Even if you're not going through a tough time... it makes your day even better!

What is intermittent fasting?

What is intermittent fasting? Have you heard of it?

I have done A LOT of research on this topic. And the biggest take away that I can tell you is this: it is NOT a diet. It is truly a eating pattern.  

This is not to say that you can eat candy and go hog wild on this eating pattern - because some things are just not good for you regardless of any eating pattern or mindset. Breaking it down as simply as possible, Intermittent Fasting is eating in a certain window of time. There are many hours, ways, and schedules that you can incorporate this eating pattern -- but, let's get to the bottom of the situation: WHY do this and WHAT are the benefits?

*SOME* of the benefits:
  • increases life span (!)
  • increases body resistance to stress
  • increases brain function
  • aid in preventing cancer
  • helps clear skin
  • lowers risk of deadly disease
  • helps body maintain lean muscle tissue
Crazy, right?  And, intermittent fasting doesn't mean you are fasting for long hours -- you can reap some of the benefits as early as 12 hours of fasting.  Think about it, that is not eating from 8 pm until 8 a.m.  or something similiar.  I do the 16:8 hours but you can start and swap and change your schedule without losing any of the benefits.  Another bonus!

Happiness tips!

Are you waiting to be happy?

Maybe you’re waiting until you reach your goal weight, or get that car you’ve been dying to have...or to get that promotion.

What if I told you that your happiness is not going to be there when you get those things?
You might feel a rush for a moment, but unfortunately it won’t last.πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Happiness is not dependent on outside influence, happiness is something you create for yourself!

Here are some tips to help youπŸ‘‡πŸ»
1. Start your day with a smile and tell yourself something wonderful is going to happen.
.
2. Accept the things you can't change. If you can and want to change them, DO IT!πŸ‘ŠπŸ»
.
3. Blast your favorite upbeat song and sing at the top of your lungs!!🎀. This ones for you @darrendelvaux
.
4. Get a workout in! I promise.. you'll feel much better afterwords!! My therapy!!
.
5. Call someone you love. Just hearing their voice can make your day better.☎️
.
6. Smile at a stranger. It'll make both of you smile.πŸ˜€
.
7. Give a compliment to someone!πŸ™†πŸ»
.
8. Write down any negative thoughts. Rip it up! Burn it! Just don't light your house on fire!!πŸ”₯
.
9. Get outside!! Breathe in some fresh air!!
.
10. Realize that you are your own biggest critic. People do not see the faults in yourself that you do. So realize that they are NOT faults, not imperfections. They make you, YOU!😌
